Leon Bailey can suit up for the national team again
Reggae Boy Leon Bailey can suit up for the national team as long as he gets the green light from new head coach Steve McClaren.
Chairman of the Jamaica Football Federation’s Technical Committee Rudolph Spied revealed last night on Irie Fm’s sports talk show ‘What’s The Score’ that the Aston Villa winger only needs the blessing of the national coach to be in the national squad as the coach has been given a free hand to select the players for the national team.
This comes after the recent fall out between the Federation and the player back in June, which led to the selection of Bailey to the national squad being suspended until he indicated in writing to the federation that he is available.
This also followed comments from the player and his non-participation in the 2024 Copa America despite being selected.
The Technical Committee Chairman has now revealed that decisions on player selection and disciplinary issues are now in the hands of the coach.
McClaren who is back home in the England has his first squad selection coming up shortly as Jamaica is down to face Cuba in a CONCACAF Nations League encounter at the National Stadium on September 6.
