LeBron James scores 40 Points at 40, and lands in the NBA History books
NBA legend LeBron James added another remarkable achievement to his illustrious career on Thursday night in the NBA. At 40 years and 38 days old, James became the oldest player in NBA history to score 40 points in a game.
In a thrilling performance at home, the four-time MVP led the Los Angeles Lakers to a 120-112 victory over the Golden State Warriors, finishing with 42 points, 5 assists, and 17 rebounds.
This milestone not only solidified his place in the history books but also broke a record previously held by the great Michael Jordan. Jordan, at 40 years and 4 days old, had scored 43 points for the Washington Wizards on February 21, 2003. James, ever the competitor, surpassed that mark with his dominant display, showing that age is no barrier to greatness.
Elsewhere around the league, other stars continued to shine. Nikola Jokić recorded a triple-double, posting 28 points, 12 assists, and 10 rebounds as the Denver Nuggets triumphed 112-90 over the Orlando Magic. The Minnesota Timberwolves fought hard to secure a 127-114 victory against the Houston Rockets, while the Portland Trail Blazers came from behind to win 108-102 against the Sacramento Kings.
The Indiana Pacers took down the LA Clippers 119-112 in a tight contest, and in a rematch of last season’s NBA Finals, Klay Thompson led the Dallas Mavericks to a 127-120 win over the defending champion Boston Celtics, with Thompson contributing 25 points.
