LeBron James earns record 21st All-Star Selection

Los Angelers Lakers forward LeBron James has once again cemented his place in NBA history. The four-time MVP, who celebrated his 40th birthday last month, has been selected for his 21st All-Star game, extending his record for the most All-Star appearances in league history.

James surpassed the legendary Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s 19 All-Star selections last season, and this year, he leads the Western Conference starting lineup alongside reigning NBA MVP Nikola Jokić of the Denver Nuggets, Phoenix Suns forward Kevin Durant, Oklahoma City Thunder guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, and Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry.

In the Eastern Conference, Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo made history as well, leading all players in fan voting for the second consecutive year. He will be joined by Boston Celtics forward Jayson Tatum, Cleveland Cavaliers guard Donovan Mitchell, and New York Knicks teammates Jalen Brunson and Karl-Anthony Towns in the starting five.

The reserves, who are selected by the coaches of each conference, will be revealed next Thursday on TNT. This year, the All-Star game will feature a new format, with the 24 selected players divided into three teams, along with the winning team from the Rising Stars Challenge on Friday night.

Mark Daignault of the Oklahoma City Thunder and Kenny Atkinson of the Cleveland Cavaliers will serve as head coaches for the All-Star teams. The coaches’ assistants from the Thunder and Cavaliers will also guide two of the teams in this new-look format.
