Sunshine Girls defender Latanya Wilson continues to assert her dominance in the Suncorp Super Netball League, maintaining her hold on two key defensive statistics following Round 8 action in Australia.

Playing for the two-time defending champions Adelaide Thunderbirds, Wilson showcased her versatility by switching from goal defense to goal keeper in their recent clash against the NSW Swifts — yet she remained unmatched in her defensive impact.

Wilson leads the league with an impressive 52 deflections, holding a 13-deflection lead over her closest competitor, Sunshine Coast Lightning goalkeeper Courtney Bruce. She also tops the intercepts chart with 21, five clear of second-placed Sarah Klau of New South Wales. Fellow Jamaican Jodi-Ann Ward remains third with 14 intercepts despite being sidelined for the rest of the season due to injury.

Meanwhile, the race for the top goal-scorer heats up, with Grace Nweke firmly in first place on 413 goals. She is closely pursued by a trio of Jamaican sharpshooters: Shimona JOK (373), Jhaniele Fowler-Nembhard (358), and Romelda Aiken-George (308), who round out the top four.

Aiken-George recently celebrated a milestone by becoming the second player, after Fowler-Nembhard, to reach 9,000 national league goals. In addition to her scoring prowess, she ranks second in offensive rebounds with 40.

On the defensive boards, Kadie-Ann Dehaney of the West Coast Fever sits second with 15 rebounds, just three behind leader Ruby Bakewell-Doran of the Queensland Firebirds.
