President of West Indies Group of University Teachers (WIGUT), Dr. Paul Brown, says a meeting will be held at the Ministry of Labour this afternoon to discuss their concerns.
The meeting comes after WIGUT indicated that lecturers would take industrial action today.
The group says the management of the University has not responded to the lecturers’ concerns about changes to health and pension benefits, which would affect new staff members joining on August 1.
Among the planned changes is management’s reduction of its pension contribution from 10 to 5 per cent.
Speaking with IRIE FM News, WIGUT President Dr. Paul Brown said the industrial action is still in effect, as they received the notice from the Ministry of Labour this morning.
