Labour ministry receives latest proposals for minimum wage
Minister of Labour, Karl Samuda, says he has received the report from the minimum wage commission with the latest proposals for the national minimum wage.
Speaking at Thursday’s meeting of the Standing Finance Committee, the minister noted that the last increase of $2,000 was granted in 2022.
Currently, the national minimum wage is $9000 per 40-hour work week.
Industrial security guards receive $10,500 per 40 hour work week.
While he did not disclose the recommendations by the minimum wage commission, Mr. Samuda reiterated his commitment to having the minimum wage increased or reviewed annually.
