Junior opposition Spokesman on Health Jesse James Clarke has indicated that the Kingston and St. Andrew Municipal Corporation will be implementing measures to assist in resolving water quality issues.

This after Clarke, who is the councillor for the Trafalgar Division, and chair of the KSAMC’s Public Health Committee, moved a resolution during yesterday’s council meeting on the matter.

It follows his earlier concern about contaminated water being supplied to some customers of the National Water Commission, especially in rural St. Andrew.

The meeting was briefly disrupted by Jamaica Labour Party councillor for the Lawrence Tavern Division, John Myers, who criticised Clarke for politicising the water issue.

Speaking with reporters after the council meeting, Clarke expressed surprise that other councillors, who serve on the public health committee, and who had previously expressed concern about the water quality, seemed to have taken an about turn.

Clarke said his concern has, and will always be, the health of the public.

He said part of the solutions being looked at is collaborating with the NWC.
