Kranium says he felt disrespected by the organizers of the Caribbean Music Awards and is now speaking out.

The entertainer was initially named Caribbean R&B Artist of the Year at the 2025 Caribbean Music Awards held in New York City last month. Fans celebrated the win, but the celebration was short lived.

According to a post shared on Instagram by the Caribbean Music Awards with the complete list of winners, Dexta Daps is listed as Caribbean Dancehall R&B Artist of the Year and not Kranium.

The confusion has raised questions among fans and industry insiders. Should award shows correct mistakes publicly, even if it means taking back an award, or should they simply move forward?

The mix up has drawn comparisons to Steve Harvey’s infamous Miss Universe slip in 2015 when he announced the wrong winner on live television before quickly correcting himself.
