Kishane and Tia dominates 60m in Opening World Tour meet in Astana
Olympic 100 meters silver medallist Kishane Thompson and former Olympic finalist Tia Clayton, dominated the men’s and women’s 60 meters in the opening World Athletics Indoor Tour Gold meeting of 2025 in Astana on Saturday January 25, 2025.
Following a 32-hour journey to the Kazakh capital, Thompson survived pressure from the field before stamping his class to win the men’s event in 6.56 seconds.
The field that also included Canada’s double Olympic gold medallist Andre De Grasse, who was sixth in the race, saw Oman’s Ali Anwar Al Balushi finishing second in 6.60 seconds, with Japan’s Shuhei Tada rounding off the podium in 6.62.
It was all about the Clayton twins in the women’s 60 meters.
The Olympic finalist Tia peeled away from her sister Tina after the first 20m for a meet record of 7.18.
Former World Under 20 100 meters champion Tina finished third in 7.36 behind Portugal’s Lorena Bazolo 7.34 seconds.
