Kingston Wharves to resume services following bomb threat today
Kingston Wharves Limited (KWL) says normal operations will resume this evening, after it was forced to suspend operations today(December 6) due to a bomb threat.
The company says it received the all clear to resume at 5:10 this afternoon, following an assessment by a joint emergency response team.
KWL’s warehouses, car parks and other customer services will return to full operations tomorrow at 8:00 am.
This was the second time in just over three weeks, that operations at the Kingston Wharves were suspended due to a bomb threat.
The threat was received at approximately 1:40pm.
The company explained that out of an abundance of caution and concern for the safety of its team members and customers, it closed all its warehouses and terminal facilities for the day.
Speaking to Irie Fm news, Corporate Services Manager Simone Murdock said today’s incident will lead to economic implications for the country.
She noted that this has also led to a high level of inconvenience to stakeholders.
She expressed hope that the police will hold the perpetrators accountable.
