The city of Kingston will take center stage this year as it officially becomes the new home of the world-renowned Reggae Marathon, which celebrates its historic 25th anniversary on December 7, 2025.

The move from Negril, where the event has been staged for the past 24 years, coincides with another milestone — the 30th anniversary of the Jamdammers Running Club, the founding organization behind the signature road race.

For the first time, participants will take on World Athletics-certified courses through the heart of Jamaica’s capital. The event will feature the Half Marathon, 10K, and 5K, charting a scenic path past some of Kingston’s cultural landmarks including the National Gallery, the Supreme Court, and the vibrant Water Lane Artwalk, before finishing along the Kingston Waterfront.

Organizers anticipate a strong international showing, with runners expected from Jamaica, the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Europe, and Japan, further cementing the Reggae Marathon’s reputation as one of the Caribbean’s premier sporting and cultural events.

This year’s competition will feature a prize pool of more than JMD $1.5 million, with awards distributed across race categories. Top finishers will receive cash prizes, trophies, and commemorative awards, making the 25th staging one of the most rewarding yet.

A highlight of the Reggae Marathon tradition continues to be the High School Boys & Girls 10K Championships. At the official launch, the 2024 winners were recognized: St. Jago High School secured first place and earned three laptops, Holmwood Technical High School claimed second place with two laptops, and Bellefield High School finished third, taking home one laptop.

Adding to the prestige, champions will be awarded the Bob Marley and Rita Marley Trophies, while all finishers, regardless of distance, will receive commemorative medals and official 25th anniversary Reggae Marathon T-shirts.
