JUTC partnering with police to reduce stoning of buses; service resumes on all routes in Washington Boulevard area
The Jamaica Urban Transit Company (JUTC) has announced a partnership with the Jamaica Constabulary Force to reduce acts of vandalism against its buses.
The JUTC has reported ten stoning incidents along Washington Boulevard in St. Andrew since July 16.
The situation prompted the state-owned bus company to discontinue its service along routes 30, 32 and 47.
However, in an update this morning, Corporate Communications Manager at the JUTC, Shantole Thompson, said the company has since resumed service along those routes.
She is urging members of the public to desist from damaging the buses, and for persons to report acts of vandalism to the JUTC or the police.
