JUTC enhancing transit operations in Spanish Town and surrounding areas with 63 new CNG buses
The Jamaica Urban Transit Company (JUTC) is enhancing transit operations in Spanish Town, St. Catherine and surrounding areas with 63 new compressed natural gas (CNG) buses.
These represent the first batch of the 100 buses expected to arrive before the end of this financial year.
Outfitted with features aimed at enhancing the passenger experience, the new buses offer increased leg and shoulder room, high ground clearance and improved air suspension for a smoother ride.
In addition, the buses are equipped with upgraded air conditioning systems designed to better withstand the tropical climate.
Speaking at a function to mark the arrival of the buses, Transport Minister, Daryl Vaz described the move as a “game changer” for public transportation in Jamaica.
The second batch of buses is expected to arrive on July 9.
