JUTC drivers resume route operations after colleague was stabbed by passenger
The Jamaican Urban Transit Company, (JUTC) has resumed operations on the Portmore, St. Catherine, to Downtown Kingston route.
This after some JUTC drivers withdrew their services earlier today, following the stabbing of a colleague by a male passenger.
Reports are that the male passenger requested a stop in a non-designated area.
When the driver refused, the passenger reportedly stabbed the driver in his left arm then fled.
The wounded driver remains hospitalized in stable condition.Â
The police are investigating the matter.
In a statement this afternoon to update commuters about the resumption of service on the route, the JUTC noted that the safety and well-being of all employees and passengers remain the company’s top priority.
