While there are over 11,000 Justices of the Peace (JPs), registered on the island, a large percentage of them are inactive. 

This according to Minister of Justice Delroy Chuck.

Minister Chuck raised the concern while speaking at commissioning of 112 new JPs in St. Andrew at the weekend.

In the meantime, Minister Chuck appealed to JPs to not take payments for the voluntary service they are commissioned to provide.
