JUST IN: Labour Ministry confirms death of Jamaican worker on farm in Canada on Friday, May 26.
The Ministry of Labour and Social Security has confirmed the death of a Jamaican worker on a farm in Niagara-on-the-Lake in Ontario, Canada on Friday, May 26.
The confirmation came in a statement moments ago.
It said an initial report from the Jamaican Liaison Service in Canada, confirmed that it received notification at approximately 7:25 A.M. on May 26, that the 32-year-old first-time migrant worker did not awake that morning, and that efforts by paramedics to resuscitate him were unsuccessful.
A subsequent report confirmed that the coroner had determined that the death was due to natural causes.
The Family Services Unit of the Ministry has been providing psycho-social support to the family of the deceased in Jamaica and is making preparations to have the body repatriated to Jamaica.
