JUST IN: Disruption in JUTC’s operation this morning as several drivers withdraw service
There is some disruption in the operations of the Jamaica Urban Transit Company (JUTC) this morning.
This, as several drivers at the Rockfort, Portmore and Spanish Town Depots withdrew their services as at 4 AM.
The workers are reportedly dissatisfied with the JUTC’s management of an issue involving two employees.
The JUTC has reportedly taken the decision to reassign the two workers, keeping them on the job while an investigation is being conducted.
However, disgruntled workers are demanding their immediate termination.
Responding to the situation, the JUTC noted that termination without a full investigation is not a course of action that can be taken by the company.
It also noted that the withdrawal of service will result in disruptions on several routes.
The JUTC said it is implementing contingency measures to minimize the impact on commuters.
