Julien Alfred withdraws from Women’s 200 meters at World Athletics Championships
Olympic 100 metres champion Julien Alfred has withdrawn from the Women’s 200 meters at the ongoing World Athletics Championships, due to an injury.
According to her Henry Rolle, the St. Lucia native picked up a grade one hamstring strain in Sunday’s women’s 100 metres final.
The 24 year old who was aiming to win her maiden world title, came away with bronze after clocking 10.84 seconds.
The event was won by world leader Melissa Jefferson-Wooden of the United States in a Championship record 10.61 seconds with silver going to Jamaica’s Tina Clayton who ran a new personal best 10.76 seconds.
