JTA to decide today if it will consider an improved offer from Finance Ministry following wage meeting yesterday
A decision will be made today whether or not the island’s public teachers will press forward with action or consider the latest wage offer from the Finance Ministry.
This after the Ministry met with the Jamaica Teachers’ Association (JTA) yesterday to further advance the dialogue.
It was halted on August 15, when JTA representatives walked out of a wage meeting with the Ministry after it failed to improve its offer of zero per cent.
An improved proposal was reportedly made in yesterday’s meeting, but the association has said that its awaiting a written response from the Ministry.
JTA President, Mark Malabver said the Ministry has indicated that a formal response will be sent early today.
He noted that the JTA’s Action Committee is slated to meet at 1 PM.
