JTA says JTC bill cannot fix a lot of the challenges affecting education
President of the Jamaica Teachers Association JTA Dr. Mark Smith has stated that a lot of the challenges affecting education cannot be fixed with the Jamaica Teaching Council Bill.
He said the solution is for greater investment in the sector.
The JTA has raised concerns about the bill recently passed in the Senate.
Dr Smith says it’s unfavourable to teachers.
According to him, teachers must be at the centre of the transformation of theeducation sector.
Speaking at the JTA’s Helen Stills Professional Development Day 2025, under the Theme ‘Wellness 360’ Dr. Smith urged teachers to pay attention to fitness and their mental well-being.
