JTA President Mark Malabver says teaching remains a cornerstone of nation building

As World Teachers’ Day is celebrated today, Jamaica Teachers Association President Mark Malabver says teaching remains a cornerstone of nation building.

He said the theme “Recasting Teaching as a Collaborative Profession” resonates with Jamaica.

He said together, the society can reimagine schools

The President said when teachers collaborate, knowledge is enriched, creativity flourishes, and students benefit from the collective wisdom of many.

However, he said collaboration must extend beyond the school walls.

He said it requires governments to partner meaningfully with educators, providing the resources, policies, and respect that teachers need to thrive.
