Jamaica Teachers’ Association (JTA) President Dr. Mark Smith has renewed the call for pension benefits that accurately reflect the contributions and service of its members.

Speaking at the JTA Golden Torch Award 2025, Dr. Smith says while teachers may receive kind words or platitudes, their work should be recognized and rewarded in monetary ways.

He extended gratitude to the teachers who were being awarded, noting that their stories should be amplified.
