The Jamaica Teachers’ Association (JTA) has expressed concern about the investigation of bomb threats, especially at educational institutions. 

In recent times, there have been several bomb threats at schools, resulting in classes being disrupted. 

The most recent incident occurred yesterday at the Portland High School in Boundbrook. 

The school was alerted to the alleged threat at about 8:00 A.M., triggering evacuation protocols. 

The bomb threat followed a similar incident at the nearby Port Antonio High School last Friday. 

Speaking with IRIE FM News on Monday morning, JTA President Mark Malabver noted that with so many of these alleged threats being made, it is long overdue for perpetrators to be held accountable. 

However, later yesterday, the police noted that a child had been apprehended in relation to the bomb threats at the two Portland-based schools. 

Head of the Portland Police Division, Superintendent Ainsley McCarthy, told IRIE FM News that the minor’s apprehension followed strong investigations.
