JPS urging St. Elizabeth customers to prepare premises for electricity ahead of August 31 deadline

The Jamaica Public Service (JPS) is urging customers in St. Elizabeth to ensure that their premises are ready to receive electricity.

This, as the company draws closer to its August 31 deadline for restoring power to the parish, following Hurricane Beryl.

In a statement this morning, the JPS said customers should have their pothead and meter stand, or stanchion in proper condition to facilitate reconnection.

Customers who are still without power despite living in areas where restoration works were done, are being urged to contact the JPS.

The JPS said this is part of its verification exercise to ensure no customer is inadvertently omitted.

The company said it has been working to rebuild sections of the St. Elizabeth network and has moved manpower from across the island to escalate the rate of repairs in the parish.

Following full power restoration, the JPS said it will continue works in the parish to redesign, upgrade and rebuild sections of the distribution network.
