JPS seeking to restore power to some customers, following weather-related outage
The Jamaica Public Service (JPS) says it’s seeking to restore power to some customers later today following a weather related outage yesterday.
The company’s distribution system was impacted by unusually high winds.
Kingston and St. Andrew, St. Catherine, Clarendon and St. Elizabeth are the most affected parishes.
It’s understood that in some extreme situations, wind borne missiles, such as zinc sheets, came into contact with power lines.
Director of Corporate Communications at JPS Winsome Callum said restoration is highly dependent on the weather conditions, and nature of the defects.
