JPS says several communities could still be without power after today
The Jamaica Public Service (JPS) says it is possible that after today several communities could still be without power due to difficulties experienced with gaining access to these areas.
This, as the power company races to meet today’s deadline for full power restoration.
That timeline does not include St. Elizabeth which is projected to have full power by August 31.
JPS’ Director of Corporate Communications Winsome Callum said Fire Hole in Hanover, Berry Hill in St. Catherine and sections of St. Andrew are among the communities that could still be without power due to access challenges.
She noted that JPS teams are working non-stop to get power to all other areas of the country.
If the JPS fails to meet today’s deadline, the company could be fined by the Office of Utilities Regulation.
