JPS says more than half of St. Elizabeth customers back on the grid
The Jamaica Public Service, JPS says power has been restored to over 50 percent of customers in St. Elizabeth, the parish hardest hit by Hurricane Beryl.
Corporate Communications Manager at JPS, Winsome Callum gave the update while noting that fewer than 20,000 customers outside of St. Elizabeth are without power.
She said this is due to difficulty in accessing some of these communities but noted that JPS has been working none stop to remedy the issue.
In the meantime she said line-men from the region who will be supporting the utility company’s restoration efforts will begin working tomorrow.
And in relation to this morning’s protests in sections of St. Mary and Portland she pleaded for patience as work continues.
