JPS says it’s better prepared for outages in the event of a tropical storm or hurricane
The Jamaica Public Service (JPS) says it is better prepared to respond to power outages in the event of a tropical storm or hurricane this year, in comparison to last year.
Director of Corporate Communications at JPS, Winsome Callum, commented on the company’s preparedness, as Jamaica remains under a Tropical Storm Watch.
Last year, Hurricane Beryl affected the JPS’ operations, resulting in some communities being without power for more than a month after the hurricane.
When asked about preparations for Tropical Storm Melissa, Ms. Callum noted that additional partners are onboard.
In the meantime, she also urged customers to ensure that they prepare for the possible tropical storm, as outages are expected.
