JPS says it completed power restoration works in St. Elizabeth three days ahead of its August 31 deadline

The Jamaica Public Service (JPS) says it has completed power restoration works in St. Elizabeth, three days ahead of its August 31 deadline.

JPS President Hugh Grant made the statement at a back-to-school fair in Ginger Hill in the parish today.

St. Elizabeth, which was hardest-hit by Hurricane Beryl on July 3, was off the grid for several weeks.

Power was returned to sections of the parish gradually, but the JPS missed several deadlines for full restoration.

Customers in the parish who staged several protests to express their discontent over the matter, called on the JPS to restore power, ahead of the August 31 deadline.

Noting the frustration of residents, Mr. Grant said he is pleased that his team could give customers access to power, especially with the start of the new school year, next week.

Meanwhile, Mr. Grant said the JPS will continue its back-to-school fairs in the parish to help parents and students.
