JPS restores power to some affected areas, others still affected
The Jamaica Public Service, JPS, says power has been restored to the areas that had service interruptions, due to tropical storm Ian.
The areas were Whitehouse District and Ballards Valley in St. Elizabeth; Golden Grove in St. Thomas; and Guava Ridge, Craig Hill and Mavis Bank in St. Andrew.
JPS said waterlogged soil remains the biggest threat to stability of the power supply.
Public Relations Manager, Audrey Williams, said while the company was able to restore these areas, unfortunately some new areas are now reportedly without service.
She said crews are working assiduously to return customers’ supply.
