JPS restores power to 99% of its customer base
Ninety-nine percent of Jamaica Public Service (JPS) customers had electricity restored up to last Saturday February 28, 123 days after hurricane Melissa hit the island.
Providing an update at Jamaica House this morning, Energy Minister Daryl Vaz said this means that approximately 681,000 of the 690,000 customers are back on the JPS grid.
Mr. Vaz noted that as at this morning, 8,653 customers remain without electricity, with the majority of those customers residing in St. Elizabeth and Westmoreland.
He said JPS teams will be working assiduously to get power fully restored by next month.
