JPS reopens Spanish Town office following early closure Friday due to escalating violence

The Jamaica Public Service Company (JPS) says its Spanish Town office reopened its doors to the public today.

On Friday, the branch was closed early due to escalating violence in the area.

The unrest resulted from two separate police fatal shooting incidents, which left three people dead, a protest by residents, as well as the murder of a bus conductor in the area.

On its social media pages, JPS noted that it was concerned for the safety of its staff and customers, and as a result closed the Spanish Town office early.

A curfew was imposed in Spanish Town on Friday.

Police also increased their presence in the area.

In an update this morning, JPS says normal operations continue at the Spanish Town office.
