West Indies players Jomel Warrican and Karishma Ramharack have both been shortlisted for the ICC Men’s and Women’s Player of the Month Awards for January following their outstanding performances on the international stage.

Warrican, the left-arm spinner, has been a standout performer in the recent Test series against Pakistan. His incredible contribution with the ball has earned him a spot on the ICC Men’s Player of the Month shortlist.

Warrican claimed a series-high 19 wickets, including a career-best 7 for 32 in the first Test against Pakistan, which unfortunately saw the West Indies fall short in the match. However, it was his mesmerizing 5 for 27 in the second Test that secured a historic victory for the West Indies — their first win in 34 years on Pakistan soil.

In the women’s category, Ramharack has also earned recognition for her brilliant efforts in the Third One-Day International against Bangladesh.

The Trinidadian was named Player of the Series for her exceptional performances throughout the three-match ODI series. In the decisive third ODI, she took 4 for 12, helping the West Indies Women seal a comprehensive victory by eight wickets and win the series 2-1.

The ICC Men’s Player of the Month shortlist features three outstanding spinners, with Noman Ali from Pakistan and Varun Chakravarthy from India also making the list alongside Warrican. Meanwhile, in the ICC Women’s Player of the Month category, Ramharack is joined by Beth Mooney from Australia and Gongadi Trisha, the India Under-19 star.
