Johnson-Smith reiterates call for concerted international effort against illegal firearm trade
Foreign Affairs Minister Kamina Johnson Smith, is reiterating Jamaica’s call for concerted international effort against the illegal trade in firearms.
This, as she notes that security concerns in the region have worsened due to illicit trafficking of firearms and weapons.
Mrs Johnson smith says gun violence is a major issue for countries like Jamaica, despite the fact that they do not manufacture weapons.
She was representing the prime minister at the summit of the heads of state and government of the community of Latin American and Caribbean States, Celac, on Tuesday.
