Johnson Smith calls on developed countries to do more to prevent arms trafficking
Foreign Affairs Minister Kamina Johnson Smith has called on developed countries from which firearms and ammunition are trafficked to Jamaica to do more to curb this activity.
Addressing the United Nations General Assembly, last evening Mrs. Johnson Smith noted that Jamaica has made significant strides in tackling crime and violence.
Mrs. Johnson Smith highlighted various initiatives, such as social intervention programmes, and investments in the security forces, as reasons for this achievement.
She noted that crime fighting efforts are hampered by continued weapons trafficking.
