JLP’s Matthew Samuda sworn in as NESA MP
The Jamaica Labour Party’s Matthew Samuda was sworn in as Member of Parliament for North East St. Ann today.
Mr. Samuda, a former Senator, took the seat in the September 30 by-election which was held after Marsha Smith resigned from the post.
He went up against United Independents Congress candidate Chase Neil and Independent candidate David Anderson.
The People’s National Party did not contest the election.
Mr. Samuda took the oath of allegiance in Parliament this afternoon.
He was welcomed by Leader of Government Business Edmund Bartlett, who said he is excited at the prospect of the contribution that Mr. Samuda will make to the Lower House.
Leader of Opposition Business Phillip Paulwell also joined in welcoming Mr. Samuda.
