JLP Secretariat recommends Delroy Williams as candidate for Central Clarendon

The Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) Secretariat has recommended that Deputy Mayor of Kingston Delroy Williams be its candidate for Central Clarendon in the next general election.

The recommendation was made to the JLP’s Selection Committee and Central Executive.

A statement from the Party this morning said Mr. Williams is the only applicant to be JLP standard bearer for the Constituency.

The former Kingston Mayor is the Councillor for the Seiveright Gardens Division in St. Andrew West Central.

The Party says he has gained widespread support in the Constituency and that his organizational skills are well known and will enhance the legacy of the JLP in Clarendon.

MP Mike Henry who served Central Clarendon since the 1980s has indicated that he would not be seeking re-election.

He had endorsed May Pen Mayor Joel Williams to be his successor.
