JLP reinstates MP George Wright
The Jamaica Labour Party, (JLP) says the Standing Committee has accepted a recommendation, for Member of Parliament for Central Westmoreland, George Wright’s membership, to be re-instated.
The recommendation was made by the Membership Committee, after Mr. Wright applied to be re-admitted.
In 2021, Wright resigned, following allegations of domestic abuse.
He then became an independent MP.
In a statement last evening, the JLP said, the Membership Committee reviewed Mr. Wright’s application and considered the circumstances which led to his independent status, and suggested that he be re-admitted.
When the statement was read at the JLP’s youth forum in Westmoreland last evening, supporters cheered.
Mr. Wright also noted that he is back on the team as a hardworking MP.
