JLP describes PNP’s plan to bring case to Constituted Authority as mischievous and baseless
The Jamaica Labour Party has described the People’s National Party’s plan to take a case to the Constituted Authority regarding West Central St. Andrew as mischievous and baseless.
Earlier today at a press briefing, PNP President Mark Golding stated that the party had concerns about irregularities in the constituency on election day.
At a later press briefing, JLP Manifesto Committee Chairman Kamina Johnson-Smith noted that Dr. Andrew Holness won the seat by a 2000 vote margin, which is consistent with margins recorded in past elections.
Mrs. Johnson-Smith pointed out that the PNP made several claims about the election process for the constituency, but had no evidence.
She also noted that the PNP indicated that it will not seek magisterial recounts in constituencies that had close margins.
Mrs Johnson-Smith added that the PNP’s position raises several questions, as among other things, no report of irregularities was made to the designated authorities.
