General Secretary of the Jamaica Labour Party, Dr. Horace Chang has condemned an altercation between supporters of JLP and the People’s National Party, during the swearing-in of councillors at the Kingston and St. Andrew Municipal Corporation, today. 

In a release Dr. Chang said the swearing in ceremony is a cornerstone of the nation’s governance and should be respected by all. 

He said the reported confrontation not only disrupts this process but undermines the very fabric of the democratic society.

He urged all political parties and their supporters to maintain a high standard of conduct and respect for democratic traditions. 

And, PNP General Secretary Dr. Dayton Campbell also condemned the incident but claimed that the PNP supporters were provoked. 

Police said no one was injured in the incident.
