JLP and Fontana express support for police ahead of JFJ protest today

The Jamaica Labour Party and Fontana Pharmacy are among groups which have expressed support for the police ahead of today’s protest by Jamaicans For Justice, (JFJ) to press for the security forces’ use of body-worn cameras.

The lobby group will lead a protest in Half Way Tree St. Andrew starting at 1 pm to highlight concerns about the increase in fatal shootings.

There have been 106 fatal shootings since the start of the year.

JFJ has urged citizens to join its protest to amplify the call for greater accountability through the use of body-cams.

In light of this, the JLP, and Fontana Pharmacy have made public, their support for the JCF.

They urged persons to stand in solidarity with the police by wearing blue.

Senior member of the JLP’s Communications Taskforce, Senator Marlon Morgan stressed that law abiding citizens should encourage the police, not tear them down.

And Fontana Pharmacy said all police and soldiers with a rewards card and their ID will receive 10% off on purchases starting today.

Meantime, Executive Director of JFJ Mickel Jackson sought to assure that the protest is not against the police.
