Jimmy Butler suspended again indefinitely by Miami Heat after practice walkout

The Miami Heat have announced they are suspending six-time NBA All-Star Jimmy Butler without pay for an indefinite period after the disgruntled forward walked out of practice on Monday. This marks the third time Butler has been suspended by the Heat in recent weeks, further complicating the situation between the star player and the organization.

Butler, who was expected to return from his second suspension and play against the Orlando Magic on Monday night, will now face a suspension that will last no fewer than five games. This stretch will take Butler through the NBA’s trade deadline on February 6, adding another layer of uncertainty as the Heat navigate a turbulent stretch with their star forward.

The latest suspension follows Butler’s reaction to being informed that he would come off the bench for the team’s upcoming games, starting with Monday night’s contest in Orlando. According to the team, Butler walked out of the morning shoot-around in response to this decision.

This marks the third suspension for Butler in recent weeks. He has already missed nine of the Miami Heat’s last 12 games due to prior disciplinary issues. The first suspension was for seven games due to conduct deemed detrimental to the team. Butler was then slapped with a two-game suspension last week after missing a team flight to Milwaukee.

With his current suspension, the 35-year-old forward faces the possibility of losing $532,737 per game, adding a financial dimension to the already strained relationship between Butler and the Heat.
