JFJ expresses concern over Granville fatal shooting and raises questions about how crime scene was handled

Executive Director of Jamaicans for Justice (JFJ), Mickel Jackson, says Sunday’s fatal shooting in Granville, St. James, raises questions over whether or not the response of the police officer was proportionate to the threat that he was facing.

45-year-old Lotoya Bulgin, more popularly known as “Buju”, was shot and killed in Granville Square.

The incident was captured on a closed-circuit camera, and the video has gone viral on social media. It led to the officer involved in the incident being interdicted.

Ms. Jackson described the situation as alarming.

She also doubled down on the JFJ’s call for members of the security forces to wear body-worn cameras.

Ms. Jackson also expressed concern about how the scene of the Granville incident was handled.
