JCSA and management of AGD to meet with Labour Ministry today over mould issues and poor air quality affecting AGD workers

The Jamaica Civil Service Association (JCSA) and the management of the Administrator General’s Department (AGD) are to meet with the Labour Ministry today in a bid to address issues affecting AGD workers at the office in Downtown Kingston.

The meeting is set for 1 PM.

It comes as employees remain off the job, due to mould, as well as air quality issues as a result of renovation works.

The JCSA says the workers, which it represents have not returned to the AGD building since last Friday, when they were reportedly forced to leave the facility to seek fresh air.

JCSA President Techa Clarke-Giffiths says many of the affected workers have chronic illnesses, making the mould exposure particularly dangerous.

She told IRIE FM News that workers are demanding written proof of mitigation efforts, as the issue has persisted for over nine years.

She said the workers remain outside ahead of this afternoon’s meeting.
