JCF’s intelligence arm increases officers’ presence in Portland to reduce violence and intercept Haitians seeking to enter Jamaica illegally
The intelligence arm of the Jamaica Constabulary Force has increased the presence of its officers in Portland to reduce violence and intercept Haitians who have been using the parish to enter the country illegally.
Speaking to reporters in Portland yesterday, National Security Minister, Dr. Horace Chang noted a link between illegal Haitians and the country’s criminal underworld.
He said efforts continue to address this problem.
Dr. Chang explained that the Coast Guard has deployed more personnel to intercept Haitians who attempt to enter Jamaican waters illegally.
He lamented that their illegal entry costs the country in various ways.
