Commissioner of Police, Dr. Kevin Blake, is seeking legal advice regarding the police’s authority to stop and search citizens under the new Road Traffic Act.

Noting that the issue poses a problem between motorists and members of the force, Dr. Blake says steps must be taken to ensure that there is no arbitrariness.

He was responding to a question on the matter during a meeting of the Montego Bay Chamber of Commerce and Industry at the Harbour City Shopping Centre, in St. James.
