JCF reports 16 % reduction in major crimes
The Jamaica Constabulary Force is reporting a 16% reduction in major crimes since the start of the year.
Police Commissioner Major General Antony Anderson made the disclosure during a press briefing, this afternoon.
He said as at July 1, there were 94 fewer murders, and 71 fewer shootings, while cases of rape declined by 63, robberies by 111, and break-ins went down by 62.
According to the Commissioner, while gang conflicts continue to account for majority of the murders, there is a growing concern about interpersonal conflicts, which account for 20 % of murders.
Noting that the constabulary expects to end the year with a reduction in major crimes, the Commissioner called on citizens to aid in achieving this goal.
