JCF investigating altercation between police and residents of Rose Garden, Kingston
An investigation has been launched into an altercation between members of the Jamaica Constabulary Force and residents of Rose Garden in Kingston.
The incident that took place on Saturday (July 9), followed two separate killings in the area, which happened moments apart.
They were said to be related, with the second being an act of reprisal.
Dead are Sandy Walker of Text Lane, and Canoy Whithorn of Beeston Street.
Head of the Kingston Central Police Division, Senior Superintendent Berrisford Williams said the altercation between the residents and the officers took place when they went to arrest an individual who was said to be one of the shooters.
Superintendent Williams said the person who was removed by the resident is still being sought.
While noting that the investigation is currently ongoing, the Superintendent pleaded with residents to work with the police.
A video show casing a number of women in confrontation with a group of police officers has been making the rounds on social media.
In one instance, one of the officers appeared to have slapped one of the women in the face.
