Jamaica’s delegation to the America’s Netball World Youth Qualifiers in Guadeloupe will not be able to leave the island , as a result of the closure of the Norman Manley International Airport at 10 pm Tuesday.

This is a result of the approach of Hurricane Beryl which is posing a direct threat to Jamaica.

The first batch of the 18-member contingent were slated to leave the island on Wednesday with the second group set to travel on Thursday for the eight-day tournament scheduled to run from July 7-to-14.

The Junior Sunshine Girls, who competed in the Red Stripe flavours Netball Jamaica Elite League as St. Andrew Shiners, are drawn in pool ‘A’ alongside Grenada, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, the Cayman Islands and Canada.

The top 3 finishers at the Americas qualifiers will earn a place at the World Youth Netball Cup in Gibraltar in 2025.
