Jamaica’s Under 21 netballers secured second win at the Netball World Youth Cup in Gibraltar 

Jamaica’s Under 21 netballers, secured a second win in as many outings, when they were awarded victory by default over Pool C’ opponents Sri Lanka at the Netball World Youth Cup in Gibraltar  on Monday . 

Sri Lanka was removed from the tournament after the team was unable to secure visas in time to travel.

The decision by world netball also affects pool A team Zambia, which faced similar issues, and as a result, Sri Lanka’s opponents in Pool C, Jamaica, England, and Tonga were awarded wins by default .

World Netball has expressed regrets over the outcome, stating they remain committed to supporting the nations’ ongoing involvement in the sport.

Meanwhile, the young Sunshine Girls got off to a winning start on Sunday with a dominant 66-43 thrashing of Tonga.

The Jamaican team Captain Roxanna McLean assessed the game against Tonga and outlined the prescription in facing the other opponents in Pool C. 

The Junior Sunshine Girls will return to action on Tuesday against Wales before ending their group stage campaign against England on Wednesday.
